AMANDA JOHNSON RESIDENCY QUESTIONS DEEPEN — SIX YEARS, TWO COUNTIES, AND TWO SETS OF GOVERNMENT RECORDS

Henry County voting records and Benton County personal-property records raise a basic question that cannot simply be explained away as a “temporary stay” at a cabin.

HENRY COUNTY, Mo. —The residency questions surrounding Amanda J. Johnson, independent candidate for Henry County Presiding Commissioner, did not begin with a recent temporary stay near Warsaw.

The documentary trail stretches across approximately six years.

According to Henry County voting records reviewed by the Watchdog, Amanda Johnson registered to vote in Henry County on May 28, 2020, and subsequently voted in Henry County elections throughout those years leading to this 2026 election cycle. (Documents provided below)

At the same time, records reviewed by the Watchdog show Johnson’s personal property being assessed and taxed in Benton County from 2020 through 2026. (Documents provided below)

And that creates the central question in this entire story.

BOTH RESIDENCY POSITIONS CANNOT SIMPLY BE TRUE AT THE SAME TIME

A person cannot simply claim Benton County residency for purposes of having personal property assessed and taxed there while simultaneously claiming Henry County residency for purposes of registering and voting there during the same six-year period without those apparently conflicting positions requiring an explanation.

Missouri law ties the assessment of tangible personal property to the county in which its owner resides.

Missouri election law likewise makes residency important to where someone is entitled to register and vote. It has to be where they claim to reside.

A person does not get one county of residence for voting purposes and another county of residence for personal-property-tax purposes merely because one is more convenient for each purpose.

If there is a statutory exception or other factual explanation that reconciles Amanda Johnson’s Benton County tax records with her Henry County voting records, Johnson should explain it.

But simply saying the Warsaw property was a “temporary” place to stay does not, by itself, answer six years of overlapping government records.

THE JANUARY 14, 2026 DOCUMENT MAKES THE QUESTION EVEN HARDER TO IGNORE

The Watchdog has obtained Johnson’s 2026 Benton County Assessment List.

It identifies:

LOCATION ADDRESS:

19249 Quail Ridge Rd.

Warsaw, MO 65355

The form then asks:

“HAS YOUR ADDRESS CHANGED?”

No changes were made.

The assessment bears a signature dated January 14, 2026.

That was approximately 2½ months before Johnson acquired the Henry County property on March 31, 2026—the same property a recently published defense of Johnson’s residency cites as evidence supporting her claim of Henry County residency.

This isn’t ancient history.

This document was signed in January of the same year Johnson filed to become Henry County’s next Presiding Commissioner.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT PART OF THE TIMELINE

Keep in mind, Amanda J. Johnson publicly announced her candidacy for Henry County Presiding Commissioner on her personal Facebook page in December 2025. That same month, her candidacy was also announced on the Angel Tree nonprofit’s Facebook page. (Proof below)

That purchase came months later, on March 31, 2026. A recently published defense of Johnson’s residency now points to that Henry County property as supporting her residency explanation—but the purchase does not resolve the questions raised by the years of Benton County personal-property tax records alongside her Henry County voting records.

Then, on April 2, 2026—just two days after that property purchase—Johnson’s candidacy was again promoted on the Angel Tree Facebook page, including directions to follow her political campaign page.

It is also worth noting that Johnson, who is in charge of the nonprofit, has now had her candidacy promoted through the organization’s Facebook platform on two separate occasions. (Documents provided below)

AND THE VOTER RECORDS PRESENT STILL MORE QUESTIONS

According to Henry County Clerk records reviewed by the Watchdog, Amanda Johnson’s voter information in 2022 and 2024 shows: (Documents provided below)

8364 SE Highway Z

Deepwater, Missouri

A P.O. Box 693, Clinton, Missouri address is also associated with Amanda J. Johnson in those records.

Meanwhile, records reviewed by the Watchdog show her husband, AJ Johnson, voting during those same election cycles using:

304 Hillcrest Dr.

Clinton, Missouri

Amanda Johnson originally registered to vote in Henry County on May 28, 2020.

Again, the existence of different addresses does not, standing alone, prove that anyone violated the law.

But when those addresses are considered alongside six years of Benton County personal-property taxation and Henry County voting, they create legitimate questions deserving answers.

A RECENT PUBLIC DEFENSE DOESN’T ANSWER THE SIX-YEAR QUESTION

A recently published defense of Johnson’s residency reports that Johnson says her family began living in Henry County in 2017, later left one Henry County home after allowing her son to move into it, and temporarily stayed at the Warsaw cabin while searching for another Henry County home.

Johnson reportedly maintains that she never abandoned Henry County as her residence.

That explanation deserves to be included.

But does it reconcile the entire documentary timeline?

Were Johnson’s Benton County personal-property records from 2020 through 2026 considered?

Was the January 14, 2026 signed assessment identifying Quail Ridge Road in Warsaw as the location address considered?

Were those records compared against Johnson’s Henry County voter-registration and voting history beginning May 28, 2020?

Were the addresses contained in the 2022 and 2024 voter records examined?

Those questions matter because any analysis of residency should test the candidate’s explanation against all available evidence—including government records that may appear inconsistent with that explanation.

Amanda Johnson’s statements deserve to be heard.

But a candidate’s own statement about where she maintained her residence is not, by itself, independent verification.

That’s why the government records matter.

THE WATCHDOG ISN’T DECLARING HER GUILTY OF ANYTHING

No court has ruled that Amanda Johnson violated Missouri election law or Missouri tax law.

The Watchdog isn’t making that determination.

Nor are we claiming that merely owning Benton County property establishes Benton County residency.

It doesn’t.

The question comes from something much broader:

SIX YEARS OF OVERLAPPING GOVERNMENT RECORDS.

From 2020 through 2026, Johnson was participating in Henry County elections as a Henry County voter while her personal property continued being assessed and taxed in Benton County.

Then, on January 14, 2026, her Benton County assessment continued to identify the Warsaw property as the location address and apparently indicated that the address had not changed.

That deserves an explanation.

ONE QUESTION COULD CLEAR UP A GREAT DEAL

Amanda Johnson, if Henry County continuously remained your legal residence beginning when you registered to vote here on May 28, 2020, why was your personal property assessed and taxed in Benton County from 2020 through 2026, and why did your January 14, 2026 Benton County assessment continue to identify 19249 Quail Ridge Road in Warsaw as the location address and apparently indicate that the address had not changed?

If there is a lawful explanation, tell Henry County.

If a statutory exception applies, identify it.

If any of these government records are being misunderstood, explain how.

Those answers should be incorporated into this story and presented to the public alongside the documents Unfortunately, Ms Johnson would not respond to our requests for any clarification or answers to these questions.

HENRY COUNTY VOTERS DESERVE THE COMPLETE RECORD BEFORE NOVEMBER

Amanda J. Johnson is asking Henry County residents to elect her Presiding Commissioner.

Residency is therefore not gossip.

It isn’t a candidate’s private family matter.

BUT WHAT IF THE MARCH 2026 PROPERTY ESTABLISHES HENRY COUNTY RESIDENCY?

That still doesn’t make the preceding six years disappear.

A recent published defense for Johnson’s residency places substantial weight on a deed dated March 31, 2026, showing Johnson acquiring property in Henry County before filing for Presiding Commissioner.

Assume for the sake of argument that the March 2026 purchase, together with Johnson’s other circumstances and intentions, establishes Henry County as her residence at that point.

What does that tell us about 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025?

It does not retroactively erase the government records created during those years claiming residency in one county for tax purposes and claiming residency in another county for voting purposes?

According to records reviewed by the Watchdog, Johnson registered to vote in Henry County on May 28, 2020 and participated in Henry County elections throughout these last 6 years leading up to this 2026 election cycle.

During that same general six-year period, her personal property continued being assessed and taxed in Benton County. Again, that is taxes that can only be paid in the county in which you claim to reside in according to state laws.

That is the historical conflict that still requires an explanation.

A property purchased in Henry County in March 2026 may be relevant to where Johnson resides today. It does not, by itself, answer where her legal residence was during the preceding six years.

And it certainly does not make the earlier tax and voting records cease to exist.

The question remains:

If Amanda Johnson maintained Henry County as her legal residence beginning in May 2020 for purposes of registering and voting there, why was her personal property simultaneously being assessed and taxed in Benton County year after year?

If there is a statutory exception or another explanation reconciling those records, Johnson should identify it.

⸻

AND THEN THERE’S THE “NO DRAMA TRUST”

The documentary trail doesn’t end with the March Henry County purchase.

Just a few months later, another deed was recorded—this time back in Benton County.

A Quit Claim Deed executed July 1, 2026, and recorded July 2, shows AJ Johnson and Amanda Johnson transferring Benton County real estate to themselves as trustees of a trust created only days earlier:

THE “NO DRAMA TRUST”

Dated June 26, 2026

Yes, somewhat ironically given the controversy now surrounding these records, the trust is actually named the “No Drama Trust.”

The deed expressly describes the transferred real estate as being situated in Benton County, Missouri, and the legal descriptions encompass multiple parcels.

The document also lists the trustees using a Clinton, Missouri mailing address.

That Clinton address is evidence that should be reported too.

The Watchdog isn’t going to omit evidence simply because it may support Johnson’s explanation in some respect.

But transferring the Benton County properties—including property connected to the Warsaw address at the center of these questions—into a trust in the summer of 2026 does not resolve what Johnson’s residence was during the preceding years either.

It simply adds another chapter to an already complicated documentary timeline.

⸻

THE TIMELINE IS THE STORY

Put the records in chronological order:

2019: A Benton County deed identifies AJ and Amanda Johnson with 19249 Quail Ridge Road, Warsaw.

May 28, 2020: Amanda Johnson registers to vote in Henry County.

2020–2026: Records reviewed by the Watchdog show her personal property being assessed and taxed in Benton County.

2020–2026: Records reviewed by the Watchdog show Johnson participating as a Henry County voter across multiple election cycles.

2022 & 2024: Henry County voter records reviewed by the Watchdog associate Amanda with 8364 SE Highway Z, Deepwater, along with P.O. Box 693, Clinton, while records reviewed for AJ Johnson show 304 Hillcrest Dr., Clinton.

January 14, 2026: Amanda’s signed Benton County assessment identifies 19249 Quail Ridge Road, Warsaw as the “Location Address,” with NO apparently marked beside the question asking whether her address had changed.

March 31, 2026: Johnson acquires the Henry County property now being cited as evidence supporting her Henry County residency.

June 26, 2026: The No Drama Trust is created.

June 2026: Johnson files for Henry County Presiding Commissioner.

July 1–2, 2026: The Johnsons execute and record a Quit Claim Deed transferring Benton County real estate into the No Drama Trust.

That is the timeline Henry County voters deserve to see.

THE MARCH 2026 DEED DOESN’T ANSWER THE SIX-YEAR QUESTION

Even if Johnson can establish beyond dispute that she resides in Henry County today, there remains a separate historical question:

How were the Benton County personal-property records consistent with her simultaneously claiming Henry County as her residence for voting purposes beginning in 2020?

Those are two different questions.

Establishing residency now does not automatically establish residency then. (We still have questions whether this current property purchased has been resided in by Amanda J Johnson).

And that is where the recently published defense of Johnson—that writer appears to leave a significant hole in its analysis.

The article spends considerable time explaining why Johnson says she is a Henry County resident today.

But Henry County voters deserve an examination of the entire 2020–2026 period, not simply the circumstances existing after the March 2026 property purchase.

⸻

AT THE TIME OF PUBLICATION

Of the 105 Henry County personal property tax records listed under the surname “Johnson,” not a single record was found showing Amanda Jean Johnson—the candidate in question—paying personal property taxes to Henry County.

Amanda J. Johnson has been provided an opportunity to respond to questions concerning these records and the apparent inconsistencies they raise.

At the time of publication, Johnson has not responded.

If Amanda Johnson provides a response after publication, Henry County Missouri Watchdog will update this story and include her explanation so the public can consider it alongside the documentary record.

The Watchdog has been presented with compelling documents that show Amanda J Johnson’s signed sworn statements of residency for both tax purposes and voting purposes conflict with one another and appear to show a six year period where she has claimed residency in both Benton County and Henry County.

We’re asking readers to look at the documents themselves.

Look at the dates.

Look at the voter records.

Look at the tax records.

Look at the addresses.

Read Amanda Johnson’s explanation.

Then ask whether all of those pieces have actually been reconciled.

Many documents have been placed below and keep in mind that all documents shared are public information and can be acquired by any citizen upon request. No private or personal information that is not a public record has been shared.

HENRY COUNTY DESERVES THE WHOLE STORY.
